Our mission is to make an education in Motion Design / Animation more accessible to everyone. We are working to remove barriers of location, cost, and accessibility to enable more people who want to learn Motion Design the opportunity to do so. By removing these barriers, we want to move the needle on creating a more diverse and inclusive creative industry.
Our Vision is to build training programs unlike anything available to Motion Designers, both aspiring and current professionals, without putting the burden of debt for training onto them. We want an industry that fosters upcoming talent and creates opportunity for growth by investing in educating its future.
Position Summary
As a volunteer mentor at Gunner School you will provide valuable insight and feedback to our students while they are in our Shadowship Program. Mentors are a key part of our program, giving students guidance on their work. This is an opportunity for you to meet fresh talent and help shape their future in the industry.
We are looking for industry professionals and Gunner School alumni who are passionate about sharing their expertise with our students. You should be excited about educating the future of the Motion Design industry, and prepared to give actionable feedback on students' work.
Mentors are not financially compensated for their time, and this position is strictly voluntary.
Position Responsibilities
Key Duties:
Provide written or video feedback to students once a week during our 12 Week Shadowship Program. Feedback will be delivered asynchronously online, and no one-on-one meetings are required. Additional feedback can be provided as students submit the final version of their projects. This is appreciated, but not required.
Engage with students in our online group (Discord server), helping them with questions as they arise.
Support special events, exhibitions, and programs through attendance, advocacy, and volunteerism.
Promote the organization’s mission within the community and serve as an ambassador Gunner School.
Optional Duties:
Host a Roundtable event with the students to answer their questions and give them important insight into a career in Motion Design.
Become a part of our Program Advisory Board.
Average Time Commitment:
1 - 2 hours between Wednesday & Thursday each week during the 12 Week session for formal feedback. Additional time may be spent on other days interacting with students on the Discord or providing final feedback on submitted assignments.
Fall Session - September - November
Winter Session - February - April
Location:
Global. We are looking for a wide variety of industry professionals to help mentor our students.
